Australia Day 2013

Australia Day is celebrated annually on 26 January commemorating the arrival of the First Fleet at Sydney Cove in 1788 and the proclamation at that time of British sovereignty over the eastern seaboard of Australia, then known as New Holland.  It has been previously known as Anniversary Day, Foundation Day, and ANA Day, andis the official National Day of Australia.

Australia Day is an official public holiday in all states and territories.  This year the public holiday is to be held on Monday the 28th of January.  This means that the Shire of Mundaring Libraries will open as usual on Saturday the 26th of January, 9am until noon, and closed on Monday the 28th of January.

From everyone at the Greenmount and Mundaring libraries we hope to see you back safely after a wonderful Australia Day long weekend.
