The role of libraries in times of crisis…a couple of days ago a concerned and frightened elderly resident phoned the library wanting to know where “the fire” was. There’d been sirens blaring, fire trucks rushing, the sound of choppers overhead, and she had been unable to get any information. We assured her we’d call her back in the next minute or two one way or another. We were able to reassure her that it wasn’t a fire and she was immensely relieved.
